Baseball Recap: Jarrell Comes Up Short

Jarrell fell victim to Salado and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salado Eagles. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Jordan Schwertner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Jarrell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Salado, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jarrell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Jarrell is facing Taylor at the right time seeing as Taylor is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Salado, they are taking a road trip to square off against Burnet at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
