The Bellevue Redmen will take on the Perkins Pirates at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Bellevue blew Columbian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Columbian got their revenge. The Redmen fell just short of the Tornadoes by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Redmen were not able to get on the board.
Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Hicks, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Perkins made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sandusky on Friday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Blue Streaks.
Caden McClellan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Quanise Rogers was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Hailey Brunner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Perkins' victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Bellevue, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bellevue has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Perkins struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bellevue came out on top in a nail-biter against Perkins in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Redmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
