Basketball Recap: Regis Groff Starts off Right with Win over Aurora Central

Regis Groff gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Aurora Central Trojans with a sharp 75-55 victory. For the Fusion, this counts as revenge for the 54-29 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

James Murdock had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 38 points and ten rebounds. The game was his seventh in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tyson Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine assists.

Alejandro (Alex) Flores and Deon Davis Jr certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Flores posted 22 points and eight boards, while Davis Jr scored 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Flores is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Tyiir Hobley was another key player, putting up four points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Regis Groff will venture away from home to take on Aurora West College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Aurora Central, they will head out to challenge Hinkley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
