Softball Preview: Selma Bears vs. Reedley Pirates
Selma has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Reedley Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Selma made easy work of Washington Union and carried off an 11-2 win.
Selma let Sophia Roque and Khamara Dement loose on the outfield. Roque scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Dement scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Reedley sidestepped Hanford West for a 13-12 victory.
Reedley got a massive performance out of Jocelyn Fonseca, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelynn Molina, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Selma's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. As for Reedley, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Selma hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game.
