Softball Game Preview: Oak Harbor Wildcats vs. Lynden Christian Lyncs

The Oak Harbor Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Lynden Christian Lyncs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Harbor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Oak Harbor is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mount Vernon just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Wildcats' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Oak Harbor saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Suto, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Mia Regan was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lynden Christian). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Meridian a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Lyncs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Lynden Christian pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Harbor, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Oak Harbor might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Lynden Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
