Olean has gone 9-1 against Dunkirk recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Marauders at 5:00 p.m. Olean is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Olean took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Salamanca 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Tiana Maine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Maine was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Ava Finch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ally Anastasia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Dunkirk was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 13-3 to Fredonia.
Gracie Grann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.
Olean has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dunkirk, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Dunkirk's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Olean has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dunkirk, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Olean keep running through batters, or will the Marauders buck the trend?
Olean got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Dunkirk by a conclusive 17-0 score. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
