Bishop Blanchet is 9-1 against Holy Names Academy since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Bishop Blanchet will head out on the road to challenge Holy Names Academy at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Holy Names Academy will be up against a hot Bishop Blanchet team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Bishop Blanchet blew past Lincoln 11-1 on Thursday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.
Meanwhile, Holy Names Academy can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Everything went their way against Interlake as Holy Names Academy made off with a 21-11 victory. Holy Names Academy's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Frannie Gimbl made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, Holy Names Academy got a massive performance out of Lee Smedstad, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Smedstad is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Delanie Gilda, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Holy Names Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Interlake struck out nine times.
Bishop Blanchet pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Names Academy, their record now sits at 2-6.
Bishop Blanchet was able to grind out a solid win over Holy Names Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Blanchet since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
