Softball Recap: Bloomfield's Undefeated Season over After Eight Games

Bloomfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. The Bombers were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the six matchups prior), but the Spartans' pitchers proved too tough.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bloomfield fell to 7-1. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2.

Coming up, Bloomfield will face off against Midlakes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Screaming Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.27 runs per game on average), something the Bombers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they will welcome Albany at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Spartans' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Falcons have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
