Baseball Game Preview: Dublin Coffman Shamrocks vs. Hilliard Davidson Wildcats

The Dublin Coffman Shamrocks will head out on the road to face off against the Hilliard Davidson Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Things were looking good for Dublin Coffman after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Dublin Jerome by a score of 12-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Shamrocks in their meetings with the Celtics: they've now lost four in a row.

Nick Sullivan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Holden Wilcox also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Hilliard Davidson's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Olentangy on Saturday. The Wildcats walked away with a 12-7 victory over Springfield.

Hilliard Davidson got a massive performance out of Johnny DiBlasio, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. DiBlasio has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Roman Himes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Hilliard Davidson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Dublin Coffman's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Hilliard Davidson, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Dublin Coffman couldn't quite get it done against Hilliard Davidson in their previous meeting on Wednesday as they fell 13-10. Can the Shamrocks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
