Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Spartans vs. South Albany Redhawks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glencoe, Hillsboro was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 win over the South Albany Redhawks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Braeden Lewis was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for South Albany, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillsboro will venture away from home to challenge Oregon City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Albany, they will head out to face off against Newberg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Redhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
