Soccer Game Preview: Gadsden City vs. Westbrook Christian

The Gadsden City Titans will head out on the road to take on the Westbrook Christian Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Gadsden City didn't have quite enough to beat Southside and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Panthers are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Westbrook Christian made sure to put some goals up on the board against Jacksonville on Tuesday. They blew past the Golden Eagles 4-0. Considering the Warriors have won three contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gadsden City's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five games. As for Westbrook Christian, they moved to 4-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Everything went Gadsden City's way against Westbrook Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Gadsden City made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gadsden City since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
