Baseball Recap: Walther Christian Academy Broncos vs. Westminster Christian Warriors
Walther Christian Academy extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-11 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the Westminster Christian Warriors. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.
As for Westminster Christian, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Westminster Christian's part, Zach Gurley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Westminster Christian is undefeated when Gurley allows one or fewer hits, but 8-12 otherwise. Gurley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sam Dries was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Miles Meurer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Walther Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westminster Christian, they are taking a road trip to take on Schaumburg Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
