Hudson Valley recap October 22, 2013

Horace Mann added to the longest winning streak in Hudson Valley this week by beating Dwight-Englewood, 43-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Horace Mann moved up to 68 from 533 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Bulldogs 43-6.

Andrew Eisner was a key player and the best on defense this week as Forman fell to Harvey. The 6-foot-4 senior recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 0 sack.

Zach Broner put up the best numbers through the air as Dalton defeated New York Military Academy. He finished with a total of 14 completions for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns. Broner's favorite target this week was Xander Furman, who caught 4 passes for 52 yards.

The Tigers' Broner and Henry Smul have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Broner has thrown for 458 yards this season, while Smul has 11 catches for 136 yards. Liam Pesce from the Lions leads the league in rushing with 220 yards.

An important game coming up in Hudson Valley this week will be when Dalton takes on Dwight-Englewood. At the moment, Roy Samuelsen's team is in second, while Jim Panepinto's team is in third.

The Tigers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,861 from 13,164. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 32-14 victory over the Knights last week.
