Basketball Recap: Merrill Takes a Loss

Merrill and Rice Lake squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Merrill had to settle for second. They were dealt an 86-29 defeat at the hands of the Rice Lake Warriors. The Bluejays' loss continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Rice Lake was led to victory by Addison Schmidt and Adaline Sheplee. Schmidt dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds, while Sheplee went 9-for-19 to rack up 19 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The game was Sheplee's 17th in a row with at least 15 points. Sydney Schradle was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Merrill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Rice Lake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-5.

Merrill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rice Lake, they will host Menomonie at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rice Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
