The West Central Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Faith Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Central has six straight wins, Faith Christian has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, everything came up roses for West Central against South Newton as the squad secured a 52-6 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-0.

It was another big night for Drea Villarreal, who rushed for 90 yards and four touchdowns, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Huber, who threw for 121 yards and one TD while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something West Central proved: they limited South Newton to a paltry -0.1 yards per carry. While three picked up at least six total tackles, Villarreal stood above the rest. He rushed for 90 yards and four scores, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. West Central didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.2.
West Central's defense didn't let Lyle Harrington, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. South Newton's QB won't forget Landon Hughes anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Hughes also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six. West Central received some extra help from Ezra Rodriguez, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Tri-County by a score of 50-48. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (40), the Eagles still had to take the loss.
Faith Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for West Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Everything came up roses for West Central against Faith Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-3 victory. In that matchup, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 22-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
