Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Caledonia Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 last Tuesday.

Ciara Griffin put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Griffin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Kendall, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Houston's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Caledonia, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houston will venture away from home to face off against Louisville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caledonia, they will head out to square off against Amory at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
