Baseball Game Preview: Ramsey Rams vs. Mahwah Thunderbirds

For the second straight game, Ramsey will face off against Mahwah. The Rams will take on the Thunderbirds at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Ramsey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Ramsey needed a bit of extra time to put away Mahwah. They won by a run and slipped past the Thunderbirds 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since May 2, 2025.

For Mahwah's part, Tyler Thoelen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Mahwah is 2-1 when Thoelen allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-16 otherwise. Thoelen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Thoelen wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Hawken, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Ramsey is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mahwah, they dropped their record down to 7-17 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Ramsey hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mahwah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
