Baseball Game Preview: Highland Bulldogs vs. Eastside Lions

Highland has gone a perfect 10-0 against Eastside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 3:15 p.m. Eastside took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Highland, who comes in off a win.

Highland took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Littlerock a 3-0 shutout.

Not much got past Landon Manzano, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Littlerock off the board. Manzano also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Highland is 4-0-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hudson Harding was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Eastside was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against Golden Valley, falling 9-2. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Eastside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenneth Ortiz, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Highland pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11-1.

Highland took their victory against Eastside when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
