Volleyball Game Preview: Perry Meridian Falcons vs. Martinsville Artesians

The Perry Meridian Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Perry Meridian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Fishers, who was ranked first at the time (Perry Meridian was ranked fifth). The Falcons fell 3-1 to the Tigers on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

While Perry Meridian had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Martinsville came up short against Monrovia on Monday and fell 3-1. The Artesians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Perry Meridian suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 13-4. As for Martinsville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Perry Meridian was able to grind out a solid win over Martinsville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
