Metro Tech hasn't had much luck against Fairfax recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Metro Tech will welcome Fairfax at 3:45 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Metro Tech will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Central, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Metro Tech was the clear victor by a 25-6 margin over Central on Monday. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Metro Tech let Joselyn Morales and Sarah Flaherty run wild. Morales scored four runs and stole six bases while going 3-for-3, while Flaherty got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Flaherty posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Hernandez Lopez, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Metro Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fairfax got the win against Alhambra on Thursday by a conclusive 13-1. The win continues a trend for the Stampede in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.
Emma Saiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Saiz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Reilley Bledsoe was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Jaslene Soberano was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Metro Tech's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Fairfax, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Metro Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .500. However, it's not like Fairfax struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
