Softball Game Preview: Princeton Tigers vs. Riverside Warriors

Princeton hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will square off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Princeton didn't have quite enough to beat Woodrow Wilson and fell 4-3. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Riverside posted their closest win since March 20th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Parkersburg, sneaking past 11-9.

Shaylea Blackhurst was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Blackhurst was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Haylee Mullins was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Smith, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Princeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Princeton suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Riverside in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
