Football Recap: Meadowbrook Starts off Right with Win over Clover Hill

Meadowbrook gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They really took it to the Clover Hill Cavaliers for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-0 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Monarchs had established a 47-point advantage.

Meadowbrook found their leader in sophomore Deshaun Chisem, who threw for 200 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 59 yards on only five carries.

Meadowbrook was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 218 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Meadowbrook, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kevin Brown, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meadowbrook didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 41-0 victory against Kecoughtan on the 4th. As for Clover Hill, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Huguenot at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th. This will be the Cavaliers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
