Basketball Recap: Owyhee Takes a Loss

Owyhee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hug Hawks.

Despite the loss, Owyhee still got an impressive performance from Rolando Espitia, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Espitia has posted since back in December of 2023. Hunter Smart was another key player, going 6 for 15 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Owyhee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Owyhee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Hug, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.

Owyhee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-36 loss against McQueen on the 28th. As for Hug, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-50 victory against Mineral County on the 28th.
