Football Recap: El Monte Piles Up the Points Against Alhambra + How To Watch

While El Monte put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Alhambra. The Lions blew past the Moors 40-0. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Moors, too.

El Monte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Rivera, who rushed for 193 yards and one score while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Rivera showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 55 yards. Noah Munoz was in the mix as well, providing El Monte with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: El Monte was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 197 rushing yards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to El Monte's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Nathan Jimenez and Humberto Marin, who racked up four sacks between them. Marin is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as he's now posted at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

El Monte's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 30.5 points thus far. As for Alhambra, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Monte will face off against San Gabriel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Alhambra, they will square off against Temple City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
