Basketball Recap: Southwest Christian School Takes a Loss

Southwest Christian School lost against Grapevine Faith Christian back in November of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southwest Christian School Eagles had to suffer through a 94-66 loss at the hands of the Grapevine Faith Christian Lions. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 847th, while the Lions are ranked 166th).

Grapevine Faith Christian had a senior duo take command as Brennen Byrd dropped a double-double on 20 points and 23 rebounds and Mason Barnett went 8 of 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points in addition to five assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Leslie, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

Southwest Christian School has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Southwest Christian School will venture away from home to challenge Grace Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grace Prep has five straight wins, Southwest Christian School has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they will challenge All S at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grapevine Faith Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.3 points per game this season.
