Baseball Game Preview: Creekside Knights vs. Lowndes Vikings

The Creekside Knights will face off against the Lowndes Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Creekside 3.8, Lowndes 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lowndes will be up against a hot Creekside squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Knights had just enough and edged out Clay 3-1.

Gavin Duprey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Connor Balazic was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 contests. Parker Morton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Creekside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lowndes is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Trinity Christian Academy. The Vikings took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conquerors. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Conquerors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Creekside's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lowndes, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
