Recap: Chaparral Cowboys vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs
The Chaparral Cowboys suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Shadow Ridge by a score of 55-53. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Chaparral of the 68-47 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 2nd.
Chaparral's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Qualib Ghallab, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. Rayshawn Armstead was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Chaparral has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Chaparral won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Foothill is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Shadow Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Cimarron-Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cimarron-Memorial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
