Baseball Recap: Jo Byrns Takes a Loss

Jo Byrns extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Gordonsville Tigers. If the Red Devils were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gordonsville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-9. Considering they have won 16 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Gordonsville's part, Clinton Pope tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Pope a new career-high.

At the plate, Sam Ausderau was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddux Randolph, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Jo Byrns has already played their next game (against Pickett County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gordonsville also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against East Robertson.
