Football Recap: Friendswood Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ball two weeks ago, Friendswood came back down to earth. The Mustangs took a blow against the La Porte Bulldogs on Friday, falling 57-21. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 117th).

It was another big night for Sean Simon, who rushed for 268 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry for La Porte. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Simon a new career-high.

Friendswood suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 2-2. As for La Porte, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Friendswood will take on rival Crosby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, La Porte is set to face off against their familiar foe Kingwood Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
