Softball Recap: Chapmanville Regional Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Chapmanville Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Lincoln County Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Panthers two weeks ago, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Chloe Murphy spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charity Atwood was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Brooke Christian was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Chapmanville Regional hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matches.

Chapmanville Regional's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Lincoln County, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-7.

Chapmanville Regional didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Point Pleasant on the 23rd. As for Lincoln County, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against Hoover on the 23rd.
