Basketball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

Austin and Riverside squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Austin had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 70-25 loss at the hands of the Riverside Rangers. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yazmin Rios, who went 7 of 12 to rack up 18 points and four steals. Rios has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Jocelyn Castro was another key player, going 7 for 11 en route to 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Riverside, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games, which provided a massive bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Austin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverside, they will face off against Canyon on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a 12-game winning streak alive.
