The Kountze Lions will challenge the Huntington Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kountze will be strutting in after a victory while Huntington will be coming in after a defeat.
Kountze is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home last Friday. They took down Hemphill 37-20. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Kountze's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Camden Johnson, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and D'Keylind Taylor, who rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 61 yards. Draylen Coffey got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Kountze wouldn't let Hemphill keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Kountze can thank Mason Brothers and Cj Barrs for forcing both of them. Barrs also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Huntington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 48-0 loss at the hands of Frankston.
