Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Lions have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Lauren Williams looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Kaylee Morgan was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caroline Terro, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Charles College Prep only posted an OBP of .091.
The victory made it two in a row for Lafayette and bumps their season record up to 6-1-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 7.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Lake Charles College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will host Ville Platte at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Charles College Prep will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Midland at 5:00 p.m. on March 17th.
