Preview: Oak Hills Highlanders vs. Lakota East Thunderhawks

Oak Hills is 1-9 against Lakota East since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Oak Hills Highlanders will look to defend their home court against the Lakota East Thunderhawks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Oak Hills didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Middletown, but they still walked away with a 31-25 victory. Given Oak Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Middletown is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oak Hills found their leader in underclassman Ava Kammerer, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kammerer has scored at least a third of Oak Hills' points.

Meanwhile, Lakota East put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. Everything went their way against Middletown as Lakota East made off with a 51-25 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Lakota East has posted yet this season.

Oak Hills has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Lakota East, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Oak Hills took a serious blow against Lakota East in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 69-21. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Oak Hills was down 34-12.
