Softball Recap: Marion Harding Comes Up Short

Marion Harding extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They came up short against the Ontario Warriors, falling 14-0. If the Presidents were looking for revenge after losing 22-2 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Ontario, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games.

For Ontario's part, Eden Howard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Howard has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Weiler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brylie Ireland, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ontario beat Marion Harding by a score of 15-2 on Wednesday.
