Fluvanna County has gone 8-2 against Monticello recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Fluvanna County Flying Flucos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monticello Mustangs at 7:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Fluvanna County was beaten by Western Albemarle 68-38. The Flying Flucos haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Monticello earned a 48-37 win over Waynesboro on Wednesday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Little Giants are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monticello is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Fluvanna County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Things could have been worse for Fluvanna County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-44 loss to Monticello when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Monticello's Sam Messinger, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards.
