Baseball Game Preview: Slinger Owls vs. Hartford Orioles

Slinger is 1-9 against Hartford since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Owls will host the Orioles at 4:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Slinger beat Menomonee Falls 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Owls.

Brayden Zimmerman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grady Chvosta, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Tennies, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hartford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Arrowhead 2-1.

Andrew Horwath looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Brady Helms was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jaxson Stater also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Hartford's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Slinger, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
