A Tidewater league recap: 5/14/12

Mathews went from 11286 to 10702 in the national rankings since last week after going 2-1 in the past seven days. Mathews is currently No. 280 in the Virginia state rankings, with an overall record of 2-8.

Having lost six games in a row, King & Queen Central is mired in the league's worst slump.

West Point's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and three walks to lead the league in both categories. The Pointers have given up a mere 87 hits on the year in addition to compiling 130 strikeouts. Mikey Anerton is the leader in that category with 37 Ks on the season.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Ryan Johnson, who turned in 10 Ks for West Point. With 16 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.
