Volleyball Recap: Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Normal University Pioneers

Lincoln was the 2-0 winner over Normal University when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Lincoln Railsplitters took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Normal University Pioneers on Thursday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Normal University scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Peyton Sasse, who had 13 kills, six digs, and three blocks. Sasse is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Tedrick, who had a kill, a block, and 22 assists.

Lincoln has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Normal University, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lincoln will venture away from home to challenge Pleasant Plains at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Normal University, they will welcome Decatur Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
