Basketball Game Preview: Thacher Toads vs. Webb Gauls

The Thacher Toads will take on the Webb Gauls at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Thacher is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Thacher came up short against Foothill Tech and fell 59-48.

Meanwhile, Webb didn't have too much trouble with Academy for Academic Excellence last Saturday as they won 74-56. The Gauls pushed the score to 58-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights cut but never quite recovered from.

Webb's win came from a few key players that Thacher will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ethan Hao, who shot 41% from the field on his way to 27 points and three steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Webb's points. Jimmie Brown III was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 17 boards.

Webb was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Academy for Academic Excellence's also-impressive total of 14.

The win made it two in a row for Webb and bumps their season record up to 16-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points over those games. As for Thacher, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
