Basketball Game Preview: Central Chargers vs. East Laurens Falcons

The Central Chargers will challenge the East Laurens Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Last Thursday, Central beat Bleckley County 39-32.

Meanwhile, East Laurens was able to grind out a solid victory over Bleckley County on Wednesday, taking the game 56-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Central better keep an eye on Deanna Lowther. She was instrumental in East Laurens' win, dropping a triple-double with 13 points, 11 boards, and 11 steals. Those 11 steals gave Lowther a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Givens, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

East Laurens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Central pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for East Laurens, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

Central was able to grind out a solid win over East Laurens in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 42-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
