Softball Game Preview: St. Bonaventure Seraphs vs. JW North Huskies

The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will challenge the JW North Huskies at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Bonaventure comes in on three and JW North on five.

St. Bonaventure is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Patriot with a sharp 17-3 win. Considering the Seraphs have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Azaria Aguilar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other pitching news, Janessa Brown looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Maria Castor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrina Tinoco, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

St. Bonaventure lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday JW North sidestepped Irvine for a 4-2 victory.

St. Bonaventure pushed their record up to 16-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for JW North, their record is now 20-10.
