Softball Recap: Montverde Academy Takes Down Ranked Lake Brantley

Montverde Academy faced Lake Brantley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles never let the Patriots get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Nevaeh Williams's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Danika Spinogatti was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Luna Taboas, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Montverde Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Brantley only posted an OBP of .083.

The win (which was Montverde Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Lake Brantley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-1.

Montverde Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-2 win against Hagerty on the 31st. As for Lake Brantley, they have also already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against East Lake on the 29th.
