Basketball Preview: Payson Longhorns vs. Show Low Cougars
Payson is 0-10 against the Cougars since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Payson Longhorns will be playing at home against the Show Low Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Payson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Blue Ridge 56-50.
Despite their defeat, Payson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mylee Redford, who scored 15 points along with five steals, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Redford scored 15 or more points. Lizzy White was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Show Low's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Snowflake. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Show Low has scored all season.
Payson dropped their record down to 16-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Show Low, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-2.
