Softball Recap: Elwood Comes Up Short

Elwood had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Oak Hill Golden Eagles, falling 14-4. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Golden Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Addison Stout was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kelsey Armes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Taylor Hawks was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Oak Hill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Oak Hill's side, they let Jolee Hawkins and Maddie Archer run wild. Hawkins went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Archer went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ry-Ry Myers, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Elwood will face off against rival Eastbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Oak Hill is set to challenge their familiar foe Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
