Softball Game Preview: Granite City Warriors vs. Triad Knights

Granite City is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Triad a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Granite City Warriors will host the Triad Knights at 4:15 p.m. Neither Granite City nor Triad posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Granite City easily dispatched Cahokia on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Warriors fell just short of Alton by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.

Granite City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Milyn Roehr, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Triad's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Civic Memorial on Thursday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Granite City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Granite City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Triad struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Granite City couldn't quite get it done against Triad when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
