Basketball Recap: Vernon Takes a Loss

Vernon has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by the Wellington Skyrockets 67-23 on Friday. The game marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mijah Johnson, who posted seven points and three steals. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Wellington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Vernon will take on City View in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. City View will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Vernon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wellington, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-37 loss against Lubbock Christian on the 14th.
