Football Game Preview: Pioneer Mustangs vs. Westmont Warriors + How To Watch

Pioneer is a perfect 4-0 against Westmont since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Pioneer has given up an average of 25.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Pioneer ended up a good deal behind Live Oak and lost 36-21. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 629th, while the Acorns are ranked 294th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Braeden Ries, who threw for 164 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 49 points the game before, Westmont was a bit more limited in their matchup last Friday. They were outmatched by Live Oak and fell 42-7. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

This is the second loss in a row for Pioneer and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Westmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Pioneer didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Westmont in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, but they still walked away with a 16-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
