Dalhart dropped down to 8-2 on Friday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell 42-34 to the Shallowater Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (31), the Wolves still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Dalhart still got an impressive performance from Hunter Trusler, who rushed for 155 yards and three scores, and also threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs. Trusler also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Shallowater, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.4 points over those games.

Shallowater got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Martin out in front who threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 75 yards on only eight carries. That's the most passing touchdowns Martin has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Logan Winn, who picked up 134 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Dalhart does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shallowater, they will square off against Brownfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will be up against the Cubs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.1 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
