Volleyball Game Preview: Viborg/Hurley Cougars vs. Scotland Highlanders

Viborg/Hurley and Scotland are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2016, but not for long. The Cougars will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Highlanders at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Viborg/Hurley turned things around against Howard on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win. The Cougars not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 1, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

One reason for the win was Viborg/Hurley's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 28-26, 25-16, 25-15.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Scotland sidestepped Marty Indian for a 3-2 victory. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Scotland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 21-25, 25-19, 27-25, 15-13.

Scotland's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Viborg/Hurley, their win bumped their record up to 2-13.

Viborg/Hurley took their victory against Scotland in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Highlanders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
